Recreation District Volunteer Award- The Shoshone Recreation District recognized the Chapter as the top Volunteer Conservation Organization of 2008. National Trout Unlimited Silver Trout Award - In early September 2008 the Chapter received the very prestigious Silver Trout Award from Trout Unlimited National. Only three chapters nation wide are honored annually. East Yellowstone Chapter is very proud to have been chosen this year. Some of the projects that qualified us for these awards are:

| Chapter President Bob Capron presents a $500 donation to the Scholarship Fund and a fly rod to the volunteers of the Buffalo Bill Chapter of the FFA. Students from Cody High School FFA helped with the fish rescue, braving snow, and breaking ice off the irrigation canals. This is a long-standing relationship with the FFA, and teacher, Troy Wyatt. |

| WYOMING Trout Unlimited awards the Wyoming Home Waters Initiative Grant to the East Yellowstone Trout Unlimited and Jackson Hole Trout Unlimited Chapters |
The Wyoming Home Waters Initiative through Wyoming Trout Unlimited was established
to help restore watersheds or sections of watersheds within Wyoming and to encourage
community involvement, interest in the outdoors, and conservation of natural resources.
The first year of the program was a huge success with two Wyoming Trout Unlimited
chapters, the East Yellowstone Chapter and the Jackson Hole Chapter, each receiving
$5,000 in grant money to help restore their Home Waters.
The East Yellowstone Chapter will use awarded grant money to increase the wild trout
fishery in the lower Shoshone River by increasing available spawning habitat through
augmentation of spawning gravels. The project will also involve the removal of
non-native riparian vegetation and reintroduction of native riparian plants to decrease
the silt load within the river.

| AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES LEGISLATION going before Wyoming Legislature |
Aquatic invasive species will have tremendous detrimental impacts to things we value in
Wyoming - healthy ecosystems, recreational equipment, and secure water supplies.
Zebra Mussels and Quagga Mussels have invaded neighboring states, but Wyoming waters
have been spared - so far.
These mussels will increase operating costs of irrigation and drinking water systems, power
plants, dam maintenance, and industrial processes. These small invaders will cost the
people of Wyoming millions of dollars each year.
Please read this Wyo Game & Fish brochure to learn how you can help prevent their spread.
(HB0018) is going before the Wyoming Legislature this year. Passage of this bill will allow
WHFD to help with the inspection and decontamination of boats and other vectors of the
spread of these exotics. Find out more about the Bill at

EYTU Chapter will send a Letter of Support for this Bill to the Wyoming Legislature.
