When monofilament line is not properly discarded it becomes a hazard to fish, wildlife, and recreation in our rivers, lakes, and surrounding lands. Fish and other wildlife can ingest or become wrapped in monofilament making them unable to avoid predators, hunt for food and ultimately die.
Even when disposed of in trash bins, line goes to the landfill and creates the same hazards to wildlife. It persists in the environment for 600 years.
If your line becomes tangled in a tree or underwater, remove as much of the waste line as possible. When changing your line, keep the old line and collect any line you find. You can deposit it in any of our recycling tubes or boxes.
Your recycled monofilament is made into useful plastic products like fishing gear boxes and fish habitat.
